A pharmaceutical company named Photocure has created yet another acne treatment cream which is currently going through FDA stage IIb human trials. The medication cream is called Visionac and is intended to treat acne vulgaris, which will kill of bacteria which the company claim is an effective alternative to current therapies.
Oslo, Norway, January 13, 2012: Photocure ASA (OSE: PHO), a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on photodynamic technologies in dermatology and cancer, has completed patient enrolment according to schedule in its Phase IIb study using Visonac, a novel topical acne treatment.
The Phase IIb trial is a randomized, double-blind, placebo controlled study in patients with moderate to severe acne vulgaris. It will measure safety and efficacy in patients aged 12 – 35 years, who will receive four treatments over a six week period. About Visonac?
The Visonac? cream is applied to the acne area, and after a short incubation time, the skin is illuminated with red light. The mechanism of action appears to involve killing of bacteria as well as specific action on sebaceous glands and inflammatory cells.
There is absolutely nothing different about Visionac, that the other hundreds of medication creams claim to do already. This is just another example of another pharmaceutical continuing to produce symptom treatment acne creams that will not help in getting rid of acne conditions at all but will certainly help in the growth of their profits. Do you think there is a need for another medication acne cream given the fact that none of the others have helped anoyone in getting rid of their acne?
