This is yet another statistic and reason to avoid using medication drugs and over the counter products to treat health conditions such as acne. This is an interesting study that was conducted to look at the effects of taking antibiotics for acne to treat the skin condition.
Patients on such treatments had over four times greater risk of the infection compared with those not taking antibiotics, research showed.
Researchers from the University of Pennsylvania assessed 576 participants. Of the 306 with acne, 36 received oral antibiotics for acne and 96 used topical antibiotics.
The odds in my opinion are not worth the risks associated with antibiotic drugs, in fact even if the odds were not as high, taking medication is not the only answer to treating acne. Natural is a much better alternative altogether, don’t you think?
