It’s valentines day, and I am sure the odd box of chocolates will be flying about for your loved one. But, keep this in mind when you are making your selection, dark chocolate with a high percentage of raw chocolate, say about 80% is a healthy, yes you heard right, a healthy wasy to go as raw chocolate is loaded with anti oxidants and has many other health benefits. It will also help keep acne aggrevation at bay. I myself love dark chocolate especially Green & Blacks.. yum!
A recent study, published just in time for Valentine’s Day, states that dark chocolate is the “heart-healthy” way to go, not only on Valentine’s day, but all year long.
Dr. Gary Kaplan, director of the Kaplan Center for Integrative Medicine, says:
“The research is clear: dark chocolate is chock-full of antioxidants that fight dangerous ‘free radicals’ in your body, and it also provides significant protection against cardiovascular disease.”
“The research is quite astounding – the cocoa in dark chocolate contains more antioxidants than what we find in fruits and vegetables! And in terms of heart health, there’s even more good news. Dark chocolate has been shown to lower blood pressure as much as engaging in regular, moderate exercise, which translates into a 20% decrease risk of cardiovascular disease over a period of 5 years. In addition, it increases the elasticity of the blood vessels, it decreases plaque formation in the blood vessels, it reduces inflammation in your body, and it lowers LDL (low-density lipoprotein or ‘bad’) cholesterol.”View the original article here
I used to eat a lot of chocolate which was one of the main causes of my acne condition, and it certainly aggrevated my acne every time I ate it. When I watched a video all about dark chocolate from a guy names David Wolfe, I switched and have never looked back. As the saying goes, “Once you have gone black, you dont look back.” Dark chocolate is the all out winner, what do you think?
