Mercury In Beauty Products

Would You Put Mercury On Your Face? Mercury In Beauty Products

This is yet another feature that highlights the dangerous levels of mercury that is being found in beauty and skin products. There has been an alarming increase in mercury poisoning cases by people using products  that have been labeled as anti aging products that teenagers have also been using for acne treatments.   There’s lead in lipstick — and there’s also mercury in skin-lightening creams. The Food and Drug Administration has recently issued a warning about mercury in beauty products — skin creams, beauty and antiseptic soaps, or lotions — that (so the products claim) will lighten your skin. These products are manufactured overseas in places from China to Lebanon and marketed as anti-aging treatments to remove age spots and freckles; teenagers also use them as acne treatments. The products are brought, and sold, illegally into the US, in Latino, Asian, African or Middle Eastern neighborhoods and online, notes the FDA. Gary Coody, national health fraud coordinator in the FDA’s Office of Regulatory Affairs, notes that many of these “cosmetics” — which really ought to be classified as unapproved new drugs under US law — says that they come into the country “through channels we can’t easily track, such as international mail and personal baggage.” Get the full feature article here   This feature also gives some ingredients that you should look out for if you use beauty and skin cosmetics that if the product contains them you should avoid. So please make sure that if you have to use such products that you check the labels. Click To Read More »

Get Rid Of Acne

Experts Tell You How To Get Rid Of Acne – But Are They Right?

How to Naturally get rid of Acne for Good Here is another article which shares some home made natural remedies for face acne. They also go into details about chemical peels and what they can do. We are not big supporters of chemical peels as all types of acne and severity can be treated naturally, provided you treat your acne from inside out. As you know, acne is an internal condition, treating only the symptoms is not enough to get rid of acne If pimples and acne scars on the face are bothering you, try putting some garlic juice or a mud pack. Or if you are game for medical help, laser treatment and chemical peels are an alternative, say dermatologists. The acne problem usually starts around the age of 10-13. Though many get rid of it by their 20s, for some it lingers. ”In teenagers, there are two things that trigger acne problem. First is hormonal changes in their body. In boys, it is the increased secretion of testosterone and in girls, the levels of both testosterone and oestrogen rises,” Chytra V. Anand, cosmetic dermatologist, Kosmoderma Clinics, Bangalore, told IANS. ”Due to these hormones the oil secretion in the body increases and the skin becomes oily and more prone to acne and breakouts. The other trigger for acne is bacterial infection,” she added. View the original article here Although this article states that medical treatments are better than natural treatments, evidence keeps proving the opposite. More people have become acne free by adopting natural methods and targeting the actual cause which is always internal, than those who have used medication drugs which only treat the symptom. As soon as people stop taking the medications or over the counter products, the acne returns and sometimes worse than before. Do not believe everything so called experts claim. Click To Read More »

How Teeenagers Deal With Acne

How Teenagers Deal with Acne

According to research, teenagers are often prone to acne infections more than any other age groups. This is due to the fact that they often experience more hormonal imbalances due to their growth hormones. Even though teenagers are the worst affected by acne, they are the ones who are often left most psychologically destroyed by acne infections. Most of the times, acne often leave teenagers emotionally depraved, psychologically disturbed and mentally distressed. There are cases where acne infection in teenagers has ended up in fatalities by leading to teenage suicide. As a result, it is important that teenagers should be taught how to cope with acne. The first lesson a  teenager should understand is that acne is a normal condition caused by natural body changes. This is because many teenagers have been made to believe that their acne condition is due to their own lack of hygiene or eating habits. As such, many, maybe even yourself, have lost their confidence and their self esteem and have often withdrawn from social groups. Once you know and understand the cause of your acne, you will regain your lost confidence due to acne and be able to defend yourself against ridicules by peers. In addition to this, you will be able to handle and treat your acne condition to avoid it getting worse. One thing to bear in mind, is that you should never squeeze the acne swellings even if both hands and face are clean. This is because when the acne swelling is squeezed, the contents of the acne are also forced further into the skin making them spread even wider and cause more acne infections. Another reason why you should never squeeze acne pimples is because once it is fractured, it opens up a high probability of bacterial infection and penetration into the skin to cause more complications. It is also a good idea to use natural remedies to treat acne conditions. Natural acne remedies are easy to get and are not as expensive as modern medication. As such, a teenager will be more responsible and will feel in control over their condition. Positive living is also good practice. As such, positive living will show you how to cope with acne by viewing your condition positively and accepting your present predicament. When these are done, you will not only appreciate yourself but will also live a satisfying and stress free life. Click To Read More »

Cause of Teenage Acne

Cause of Teenage Acne

For some reasons and as you may have correctly observed, teenagers are more prone to acne infection than any other age group. However, this should not be alarming for you, for as we shall see, it is their hormonal changes that leads to this condition and that their condition, like the hormonal imbalance, is not always permanent. For one, you will agree with me that it is very difficult to counsel a teenager with acne. This is because they lack the knowledge on the causes of their condition and instead, listen to the myths being peddled about acne. For instance, a teenager may become withdrawn and unsocial when friends begin teasing them that they have acne and that they always look untidy.  It is for this reason and many others that we need to understand what causes acne among teenagers. When looking at the cause of acne in a teenager, let us look at the structure of one pimple found on thier face. As such, one pimple can be termed as the disorder of three parts of the skin namely the hair follicle, the sebaceous gland and one hair string. The reason as to why the face and the back are most likely places for acne infections in a teenager is because they have the largest number of sebaceous glands and as we stated earlier on, sebaceous glands are meant to produce sebum. The reason why acne is more common among teens is because during the teenage years, enlargement occurs on the sebaceous glands. As a result, teenagers produce more sebum than any other age group due of their change in growth hormones known as androgens. Because of this, pimples appear on their faces. However, as they go past their twentieth birthday, sebum production decreases because of a decrease in the androgen hormones in their systems. This means that even if the teenagers are left alone, sooner or later the pimples will disappear in the same way as they came. However, as we have already noticed, not all pimples are caused in this manner. There are other factors that lead to acne and therefore, a doctor should be able to examine any infected person and give their verdict on the nature of acnes. Click To Read More »
